Pulse Width

In this example, the pulse is the hammer and the piezoelectric element is the bell. Low frequency means big bell and large pulse means big hammer

  1. If we have a big bell (low frequency), we need a big hammer (long pulse) to ring it
  2. If we have a small bell (high frequency), we need a small hammer (short pulse) to ring it

In digital instruments, the width of the square pulse can be adjusted in function of the frequency of the probe
