Timing

Timing of the individual waves is crucial when doing PAUT. Since it is the wave front that creates the beam, the better the phasing of the wave front, the stronger the beam is.

1. 0-degree unfocused beam, incorrect timing
2. 0-degree unfocused beam, correct timing
3. 0-degree focused beam, incorrect timing
4. 0-degree focused beam, correct timing
5. 25-degree focused beam, incorrect timing
6. 25-degree focused beam, correct timing

When the phasing is good, PAUT produces a strong narrow beam.
